Swing a little more on the devil's dance floor
I am not tagging this as a long post because everyone needs to be aware of the unfortunate events unfolding in Detroit. I am sorry but this is very important and worth your time to read.

I am literally in tears. Last night we lost another part of the Heidelberg project to arsonists. If you don’t know about the project or just have not been up to date with what has happened, the Heidelberg project was a large scale community art instillation in Detroit and due to opinions of a select few there has been a recent string of arson fires that have destroyed most of the buildings in the project. Unfortunately last night we lost another building. The party animal house is gone. There is nothing left. I am crushed.
The Heidelberg is very important to me because it was a major source of inspiration to my art direction after my art teacher took us on a field trip to the  project in my freshman year of high school. The worst part is that I have pictures from the trip on my cell phone, yeah it is still going strong nearly six years later, but most of the instillation pieces are gone.
The project is an inspiration to everyone who has visited it and the project is centered around including the community to participate in creating art not only for the community, but allowing young minds to see that they can create as well as be a part of their community. There is many pieces that have been donated by students to be a part of the project, and most of the instillation is supported and maintained by volunteers.
As unfortunate as the current string of events have been I just want to have at least some few become aware of what has happened and try to help anywhere that they can because art is stronger than arson and a community can bounce back from even these tragedies. Art is art and as long as it stands it doesn’t deserve to be destroyed and needs to be protected.
Thank you for your time and consideration. All I ask is that you take the time to learn about the project and try to help anyway that you can.
